This podcast episode focuses on the importance of fathers being the source of spiritual strength in the home. Spiritual leadership is not normally what we associate with fatherhood. We normally think about fathers in physical terms. The father tends to be a person of impressive physical strength. He is the one who fixes things around the home. The father is normally expected to be the bread-winner for taking care of the family. Paul writes, “If any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel” (1 Timothy 5:8, KJV).

But contrary to popular opinion, a father’s day is not done when he leaves the work place. It is commendable that fathers work hard to take care of their family. But that’s not the end of a father’s day. As spiritual leaders in their home, fathers are to tend to the business of fatherhood and spiritual leadership daily and with diligence.

It goes without saying that if fathers are to be spiritual leaders in the home, they must first know the Lord themselves. No one can effectively lead In a way he doesn’t know or a way he doesn’t model.
