Being in the presence of the Lord is one thing. Since He is omnipresent, we are always in His presence. But experiencing His presence is a totally different thing. But what does that mean, and what are the benefits of doing that? Being in God’s presence simply means getting alone with Him and staying there until you feel some sense of having been impacted by your time with Him.
When Moses came down from the mountain of God, He did not know that his face shined from having been in the presence of the Lord so long. The people could not look upon him because of the brilliance of his face. He had been on the mountain with God for 40 days and 40 nights with no food. It was solely because of his extended time alone with God that Moses was so impacted.
Of course, experiencing the benefit of tarrying in the presence of the Lord does not take 40 days and 40 nights. If that were the case, no one would pursue it. But it also does not happen in a minute. This dynamic is an act of faith. You must believe in the reality of experiencing the presence of the Lord. If you don’t believe that, it’s hardly likely that you will be diligent in that regard.
