Two prominent attitudes toward the book of the Revelation exist. One, it’s too hard to understand. And two, it’s too scary. For these reasons, some believers shun the reading of this book. But the intent of this last book of the Bible is not to scare us but to inform us. We should value the book of the Revelation. It gives us the most comprehensive record of the fate of the world. Our Lord is omniscient. He knows the end from the beginning. He instructed John to record the things that are, and the things that will occur in the future (Revelation 1:19). The awesome thing about the book of the Revelation is that in it, history was written over 1900 years ago. There is absolutely nothing anyone can do to change the course of history recorded in this book. We do well to heed its warnings, and the implications thereof found in the book.
We need not be troubled by what’s going on in our world. These things don’t suggest that God is not in control. On the contrary, because He revealed these end-time prophecies over 1900 years ago, the turbulent times of our day only confirm that God is in control.
